To progress as intended the club needs more equipment. Darwin College Boat Club has been very successful in recent years, especially taking into account the limited facilities and ressources the club has. To further progress in the future we are determinded to improve the equipement available to the club. Most importantly Darwin needs more boats in order to be able to compete with other college clubs on the level we have been doing in the past. Even though we have recently purchased a second-hand eight for our senior women crew, our senior mens eight is in a very bad condition and ideally we should acquire one additional eight for mens racing. Sadly two of our recent racing crews underperformed due to equipment failured during racing. Furthermore, DCBC is most likely the only college rowing club which does not possess any other boats than eights. This limits our training capabilities at the moment and we plan to acquire at least one coxed four and maybe a skull to expand the training equipment available to our members.
Darwin teams have been very successful outside of Cambridge in recent years. Sadly these sucesses were not achieved in the name of the college but in the name of Cambridge City RC, as we were using their equipment. Sponsorship might enable us to buy a trailer or afford transportation on our own. Therefore we would be able to compete outside of Cambridge on a regular basis.
Finally, DCBC needs to improve coaching education within the club. As we heavily rely on our own members to coach our crews we ideally would like to fund their education and enable them to attend coaching courses. Such education would not only improve coaching in general but would also increase the safety of our crews
