Making a gift to Darwin College
All donations, no matter what their size make a real difference. Combined they will make a lasting change to the future success of the College and our students.
Darwin College is a registered charity, and as such can reclaim the tax on any donation made. So, if you pay tax in the United Kingdom, under the Gift Aid scheme, Darwin College can reclaim from the Inland Revenue the tax already paid on your donation. Currently the basic rate of tax is 20 percent. This means that your gift is 25 percent more valuable to us. If you are a higher rate taxpayer then you will be able to reclaim 20 percent of the value of your donation.
You can give regularly by direct debit or with a one-off gift.
Regular giving on a monthly, quarterly or annual basis is a very important source of income for the college, as it means that we can put in place our future plans with confidence. All donations of whatever size and whether a regular or single gift, are important to us and will help the college maintain it's position as a centre of post graduate excellence. To give securely on-line please click the button below, it will take you to our Charity Aid Foundation page.
If you would prefer not to donate on-line then you can download and complete our donation forms:
To set up regular giving by standing order, please download the Regular Giving and Gift Aid Forms, fill them out and post them to the Development Office at the address below.
To make a donation by cheque, CAF cheque or credit/debit card please download and complete the Alumni Donation Form. Please send it together with your cheque (made payable to "Darwin College") to: Development Office, Darwin College, Silver Street, Cambridge CB3 9EU
Others ways to give
This is a simple and tax efficient way to donate directly from your monthly salary. You decide how much you would like to give on a monthly basis. The deductions are made before you pay tax and therefore you get tax relief on your donation. So, if you are a basic rate taxpayer and authorise a monthly donation of £10 then the net cost to you is only £8.00.
Please speak to your employer for more information on this method of giving.
Gifts of listed shares, securities and property
Gifts of shares, securities and property by UK taxpayers attract full tax relief from Capital Gains tax and allow the donor to claim income tax relief on the full value of the gift at the time of transfer. Please contact the Bursar if you are interested in donating in this way, he will be pleased to speak to you.
