Darwin Fellow granted Wellcome Trust award

Congratulations to Darwin Fellow Dr Thorsten Boroviak, who has been granted a Career Development Award by the Wellcome Trust. The scheme provides funding for mid-career researchers with the potential to be international research leaders, allowing them to develop their research capabilities and drive innovative programmes.

As Principal Investigator at the Laboratory for Primate Embryogenesis, Thorsten and his team are creating experimental new techniques to study the formation of the anterior visceral endoderm (AVE) in primate embryos, addressing significant gaps in current understanding of human development.

“This Career Development Award will cover my own salary, four additional positions and research expenses for the next eight years,” Thorsten explains.

“Currently, I am negotiating how and where to expand my lab here in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience.”
