How to Donate
Regular giving allows us to plan with confidence for the future. We are enormously grateful for the generosity of our donors, who help the College maintain its position as a centre of postgraduate excellence.
Whether you’d like to make a one-off donation or set up a direct debit to give regularly, you can do so here.
Gift Aid
Darwin College is a registered charity, and as such can reclaim the tax on any donation made. So, if you pay tax in the United Kingdom, under the Gift Aid scheme, Darwin College can reclaim from the Inland Revenue the tax already paid on your donation, making your gift more valuable to us. If you are a higher rate taxpayer, then you will be able to reclaim 20% of the value of your donation.
Other ways to give
Payroll giving
This is a simple and tax efficient way to donate directly from your monthly salary. You decide how much you would like to give on a monthly basis. The deductions are made before you pay tax and therefore you get tax relief on your donation. So, if you are a basic rate taxpayer and authorise a monthly donation of £10 then the net cost to you is only £8.00.
Please speak to your employer for more information on this method of giving.
Gifts of listed shares, securities and property
Gifts of shares, securities and property by UK taxpayers attract full tax relief from Capital Gains tax and allow the donor to claim income tax relief on the full value of the gift at the time of transfer. Please contact the Development Director if you are interested in donating in this way.
Darwin’s policy on accepting donations can be found here.

If you would prefer not to give online, please complete the Donation Form and send, with a bank transfer, cheque or CAF voucher, to Development Office, Darwin College, Silver Street, Cambridge CB3 9EU.
