Clear your schedules for Monday evening and get ready to cheer on Darwin on national television!
The new season of University Challenge, which began on 12 August, features a team of Darwinian quizzers taking on their counterparts from universities across the country. It is the third time Darwin has been represented in the programme, which launched in 1962, making it almost the same age as the College. Darwin previously participated in 2018/19 and 2020/21.
Captain Harrison Whitaker (PhD in Film & Screen Studies); Rebecca McClelland (PhD in Connected Electronic & Photonic Systems); Sophie Willis (PhD in Pathology); Rowan Stewart (MPhil in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics) will appear on BBC2 at 8.30pm this coming Monday, 30 September, taking on Birkbeck, University of London. Jon White (PhD in Geography) is the team reserve.
“We worked so hard as a team and had such an exciting and intense time filming that it will be lots of fun to see it onscreen,” said Harrison. “I may be leaving Darwin soon, but I’ll definitely be coming back to DarBar to watch this!”
Monday’s episode will be screened in the common room/Cafe, so if you’re in College come along and join your fellow Darwinians with fingers on the buzzers!
