Congratulations to Joe Watkinson, who has been elected as DCSA President 2026-27.

Joe is mid-way through a two year Master of Architecture degree, having previously completed a BA in Architecture at the University of Sheffield. His research explores the role cultural heritage can play in the future of rural communities in Cornwall.

The College’s current close relationships with the world of architects, contractors and builders fed directly into his desire to be involved.

“My interest in running for DCSA President stemmed from the exciting transitional phase Darwin is entering,” Joe says.

“As building works start to take over portions of the site over the next few years, I want to ensure that the College community is both kept informed of, and is involved in, these changes, and that the community spirit and social life that makes Darwin so special is maintained throughout the works. This interest has also been informed by my time working for architecture practices and community groups.”

After a year at Darwin, Joe’s clear on what makes it special, and why he wants to represent its students.

“Without a doubt, the best thing about Darwin is the people. They make it the engaging and welcoming place it is, and my first year here has been truly wonderful because of them.”

Thank you to Katie Taylor for all her hard work and commitment as DCSA President 2025-26.
