Saturday 26 April – Annual DCS Bluebell Walk
This year’s Darwin College Society bluebell walk will take place at Waresley and Gransden Woods, part of the original ancient South Cambridgeshire woodland. We shall be meeting at the reserve for a 10.30am start followed by lunch nearby for which you can pay separately on the day. The cost is £5 and includes a donation to the Wildlife Trust. Numbers are limited to 20 and places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
To attend please email alumni@darwin.cam.ac.uk.
Saturday 10 May – DCS Bury St Edmunds Guided Tour
After the King of East Anglia was killed by Vikings in 869, his body was taken to a nearby Abbey which became such a popular site of pilgrimage that it now bears his name: Bury St. Edmunds. Once containing one of the largest churches in England, this monastery was finally dissolved by Henry VIII and now lies in ruins, its stones used to construct many of the town’s buildings. Join us on Saturday, 10 May for a private guided tour of the Abbey and town by a local guide. We’ll be meeting at 9.30am at Five Angel Hill for coffee, with the tour starting promptly at 10am. The tour will finish around noon, followed by lunch at a local pub with the afternoon free to explore, shop the market, or head home at your leisure. The cost is £17, which includes cost of the tour guide and lunch at the pub is pay as you go. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to 20 people.
To book please email alumni@darwin.cam.ac.uk by 2nd May.
